Danny R. Smith, founder and chief investigator of DRS Investigations, is a former L.A. Sheriff's Homicide detective with more than 21 years law enforcement experience. Danny has investigated several hundred cases of homicide, suicide, accidental and recreational death, industrial death and officer-involved shootings. Prior to his promotion to homicide, Danny held assignments investigating gangs, life-threatening extortion, pattern and series robberies, kidnap for ransom, threats against public officials and more.
Danny's Lead Investigator, Jim Roberts, is a six-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps who has 17 years law enforcement experience with the Phoenix, Arizona Police Department. His career was highlighted by selections to specialty assignments including narcotics and gang units. He also investigated internal affairs cases involving use-of-force and served as a tactical instructor. In 2005 Jim took a pension and went to work as a civilian contractor in Iraq.
Each departed law enforcement with scores of accolades and commendations. Danny was a recipient of the Medal of Distinguished Service; Jim received the department's Medal of Valor.
